Who We Are and What We’re About

HulaScoops
is a sweet little dessert spot on the beach. So small, in fact, you can’t come inside.

But if our window’s open, you’re welcome to stop by for ice cold treats and warm island vibes. (Things we all deserve, if you ask us, just for making it this far.)

Like the kind of gelato you had that time in Italy, only it’s made just up the road.

Or monumental shave ice layered with real fruit syrups and that sweet, thick milk your auntie always makes pies with.

Then there’s the Taylor Swift of frozen soft serve, Dole Whip — so light and fresh, you never really get tired of it.

We even make tropical mocktails and shave ice setups for your favorite bartender to finish off. Because...well, why not, if you’ve got no place else to be?

Life gets hard sometimes. So go easy when you can. And eat the good stuff. You can dance it off later.

Always with aloha,

Reducing Our Impact

We live and work in one of the world’s most beautiful places, surrounded by living things that count on us to make responsible choices.

We’ve made a commitment to support emerging producers of better single-use, “disposable” service items. Many of these products are new or emerging and are not yet produced on a large scale, so they cost a little more. But we sleep better knowing we are keeping the doors open for these innovative companies.

Here’s some of what you’ll find when you visit:

  • Bamboo fiber cups. Our gelato cups, pints, and pint lids are made from FSC-certified sustainably produced bamboo paper lined with a plant-based moisture barrier and are BPI-certified compostable.

  • (Really) Biodegradable spoons. Our gelato and sundae spoons are made of FSC-certified paper coated with a micro-thin layer of quartz, a plentiful and non-toxic mineral. They are taste-free, contain zero polymers or PFAS and are recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable into benign and naturally-occurring materials.

  • Home-compostable straws. We use 100% plastic-free, high-performance paper straws that hold up for hours in liquid and decompose in about 90 days with no special handling, treatment, or facilities.

  • Plant-based clear cups. The cups we use for our whips, floats, and setups are created from commercially-compostable “bioplastic” from 100% renewable plant sources, such as corn and maize.

We are always looking for new options for planet-friendly service ware. If you know of a better product, tell us about it.
